Union Petition Filed
Dear Healthy Living Coworkers,
Last week, a cohort of us from all three stores announced our desire to form a union at Healthy Living.
We made this announcement because we love working at Healthy Living, and because we know that through collective bargaining we can make this workplace better and more sustainable than ever before!
Since we delivered the announcement in the form of a letter to Katy and Nina Lesser, interest in the formation of a union has grown substantially throughout all three stores. In fact, we are incredibly pleased to report that over a majority of workers at Healthy Living have signed cards in support of unionizing!
With this great news in mind, we have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to conduct a secret-ballot union election. This election will determine the outcome of our efforts to unionize, so it is very important that you vote “YES” during this election if you want a union at Healthy Living. If a majority of workers vote for the union, we can immediately begin bargaining for a fair contract that includes things like higher wages, better benefits, and safer staffing levels. We will also work to codify angel food, and other great benefits about Healthy Living, to ensure that this great resource will remain in place forever.
That said, there is still a chance that Healthy Living could decide to voluntarily recognize our union. If this is the case, then we will be able to begin bargaining much sooner.
We appreciate that so far Healthy Living has refrained from employing any anti-union tactics. We hope that they will continue in this vein so we can all work collaboratively to make Healthy Living the best place it can be for the entire community.
We are very excited to work together as a store to achieve a fair contract for all.
Solidarity!
