Healthy Living Hired Union Avoidance Firm
April 12, 2026
Dear Coworkers at Healthy Living,
As support for the union continues to rise beyond the majority of our coworkers, we are increasingly excited about the many improvements to our workplace that we would have under a fair union contract!
It also appears that we are very close to nailing down an election date from the National Labor Relations Board! This will most likely be at the end of April. We’ll keep you all posted as we learn more.
In our last update, we expressed our gratitude toward Healthy Living for respecting our right to organize and for not hiring any union-busting firms. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response from Healthy Living, however we did learn that they have made the decision to hire the union avoidance consulting group known as Sparta Solutions.
Sparta Solutions has an extensive history of operating against workers who strive for collective bargaining, and we wanted to share some of the information and experiences from other workers we have regarding this consulting group so everyone knows what to expect.
It appears that there will be consultants from Sparta present in the stores during the next few weeks. They will likely present themselves as a neutral, unbiased, and unaligned party.
Sparta Solutions is likely being paid thousands of dollars every day by Healthy Living in order to consult with workers and managers in our stores. This is according to previous reports Sparta has filed with the Office of Labor-Management Standards.
On their website, Sparta Solutions lists “environmental groups” and “the media” as a few of its primary opponents, alongside union organizations.
We remain hopeful Healthy Living will choose to turn their focus toward communicating in a collaborative manner with us instead of continuing to work with union avoidance firms, so that we can all serve our common interest in making this a greater workplace than ever before!
We remain committed to striving toward fair wages, better staffing levels, the protection of Angel Food, and more. These improvements can be achieved with a union contract!
In Solidarity,
The Organizing Committee for Healthy Living Workers United
